Hopes broken :(, the Indian Hockey Team failed to qualify to the Beijing Olympics. This is the first time since 1928 that India did not qualify for the Olympics. Britain beat India 2-0. Britain scored both goals in the initial ten minutes - one of a smart pass and the other from a penalty corner. The defence of the British team was too good for the Indian attack. There were very few instances where India was close to scoring a goal except for a few penalty corners which were not converted.
I expected the match to be a lot more closer. It started at 2:30 am IST. I did make a sincere attempt to go back to sleep, but didnt get any. So, here I am back on my desk ‘blogging’.

I feel sadder that all media is blaming the team and the coach, and using such strong language. The team played good hockey all through, but happened to lose this one. It happens. Thats sport.

@backpakker:
The entire hockey fraternity is. Missing the Olympic games is a huge blow for Indian Hockey. A wake up call for a re-organisation.
@gkamesh:
Yeah, they did play well throughout the tournament except this one. Media has it’s own reasons to rake up controversies.

If u c d link (http://india.gov.in/sector.php) there is no field for sports….
I’m not blaming the Govt…but there should be a serious reform taken in all levels of sports and Games across India….
Not only Hockey many other games, for example in weight lifting players even suffer to have enough food for practice…they are not cared…no sponsors…
